Mark Fitton, goldsmith of London, and his wife Linnet, journeyman of the Company of Paynter Stainers of London, were going to Canterbury to visit relatives and sell their wares. Accompanying them were Linnet's apprentices Ann and Lucy, and the cook, Giles.

Giles spent most of the day at the hearth, cooking supper.

The apprentices helped prepare food.

Linnet worked on silver point drawing, making sketches for a new commission.

Travelling to Canterbury for the good of his soul was Sir Daniel Stafford. With him was his servant, Edward.

Edward spent much of his day polishing his master's armour.
